Sunday Star Times Publishes Biased Article on the Family Planning Association’s Challenged Charity Status by Right to Life

The charity status of the New Zealand Family Planning Association has been questioned by Right to Life, who has lodged a complaint with the Charities Commission.

An article was published yesterday regarding the complaint.  Biased from the very first word, the author of the article, Marika Hill, attempted to discredit Right to Life and all pro-lifer’s in general.  Her opening paragraph reads:

Anti-abortionists are taking aim at the charity status of the Family Planning Association in their latest assault against women and pro-choice organisations.

Sadly Marika has believed the propaganda that anyone who stands in the way of so-called “reproductive rights” is against women.

Pro-lifer’s disagree.

True advancement for women is won when their inherent femininity is embraced.

Advancement for women doesn’t occur through pumping them with contraceptives, fitting them with foreign objects (such as Jadelle and IUDs), encouraging them (from a very young age) to be sexually active with whomever they please (raising their chances of contracting an STI or falling pregnant unexpectedly) and then advocating for “rights” to kill their unborn children when they discover they are pregnant in a situation where they don’t want to be.  The Family Planning Association would even like to have the opportunity to administer medical abortion for these women and girls.

It’s time the media started using correct terms.  They need to drop the liberal rheteroic.  They need to start reporting with honesty, truth and proper enquiry.

Pro-lifer’s are for life.  That is what the term means.  Life for the woman and life for the unborn child within her womb.

The real war on women is being caused by the so-called pro-choice groups.  Abortion, contraception and sterilization are all “reproductive health” measures that were supposed to liberate women.  Instead they have enslaved them.

Marika Hill should be reprimanded for her biased “reporting” and apologise to Right to Life for her careless and ill-thought-out words.

Its Time New Zealand Protected its Women and Their Unborn

A Media Release from Right to Life.

Right to Life calls upon the New Zealand government to reject calls for the decriminalisation of abortion in New Zealand. Right to Life also calls upon the government to recognise the personhood of unborn children and the dignity of the human person from conception to natural death and to provide effective legal protection for the health and welfare of women.

The government should ignore the shrill voices of the Abortion Law Reform Association, the Family Planning Association and the Women’s Health Action Trust, advocates for a culture of death who call for the imposition of Roe v Wade type decriminalisation of abortion in New Zealand with increased violence against women. Their call in no way represents the interests of women and their unborn children.

Today is the fortieth anniversary of the infamous Roe v Wade decision of the United States Supreme Court. This is a day of infamy that opened the floodgates of hell with the striking down of the individual State’s legal protection for the lives of its unborn children.

The Roe v Wade decision is based on a falsehood, it effectively declared that the unborn child is not a human being and is the property of the mother. She may kill the child if that is her choice. There is no Supreme Court decision that has brought down on American women such pain and destruction. It is reminiscent of the notorious Dred Scott decision of the United States Supreme Court in 1857 which declared that negro slaves were not human beings and were the property of their owners.

Since the passing of Roe v Wade a total of 55,772,015 innocent and defenceless unborn children have been killed in the United States in their mother’s wombs. This is 3,820 children every week, all under the guise of “reproductive health” The killing of unborn children is promoted under the pretence that it is a health service, it is not.

Those who use Roe v Wade as an argument for their advocacy should be aware that the decision is founded on lies and falsehood and will in time be overturned. The Jane Roe who was the plaintiff in the case was told by her pro-abortion lawyers to lie to the Court that she had been raped and wanted an abortion. She also did not have an abortion but gave birth to her child. Her real name is Norma McCovey and she is now an ardent defender of the right to life of the unborn.

The Roe v Wade decision was founded on a blatant falsehood. Justice Blackmun in his opinion for the majority argued in spite of the overwhelming scientific evidence, that it was not known when human life began. He said that if this question was answered to accept that life began at conception then the judgment in Roe v Wade would collapse.

Today there is no dispute that live begins at conception. In fact there never has been. Science knows it, all doctors know it, even abortionists know it. Modern technology has enabled us to witness the wondrous development of children in the womb. Why then do the advocates for a culture of death continue to use Roe v Wade as a basis for their advocacy for the decriminalisation of abortion? The reason is that the life of the unborn child is trumped by convenience, personal autonomy and self. This is deplorable.

Family Planning Declares War on Women

Media Release from Right to Life

Family Planning in a recent media release, have declared war on women in New Zealand. In September 2012, the Association announced in a media release that they were, together with the Abortion Law Reform Association of New Zealand and the Women’s Health Action Trust embarking on a national campaign to have abortion decriminalised in New Zealand. The NZFPA media release stated, “that the time has come to have abortion removed from the Crimes Act 1961 and managed as a health matter.”

In 2009 the NZFPA stated in a media release that they were working within the law and “were not seeking to change it.” The NZFPA have now revealed their true intentions of ignoring the rights of unborn children and making it no longer a crime to kill an innocent and defenceless child in the womb. This position entails rejecting the recommendations of the Royal Commission on Contraception Sterilisation and Abortion that found that human life began at conception and that the unborn child as the weakest and most defenceless member of the human family deserved respect and legal protection. The NZFPA by rejecting the findings of the Royal Commission have set themselves up as the enemy of women and their precious unborn. Their stance is also an affront to Parliament which accepted in 1977 the recommendations of the Royal Commission.

The government should now cease funding the New Zealand Family Planning Association [NZFPA], a threat to women and their unborn. The Association is also the biggest abortion referral agency in New Zealand. The Association in 2009 received more than $11 million in government funding.

Family Planning should be seen as a threat to our children and to the family. Family Planning continue to seduce our children and undermine parental responsibility. It is appalling that the NZFPA should continue to be funded by the government.

The proposed national campaign would entail considerable lobbying of Members of Parliament and activating the community to support the campaign. The proposed change in the law would entail removing legal protection for the right to life of unborn children, the weakest and most defenceless members of the human family. It would also expose vulnerable women with an unplanned pregnancy to increased coercion, exploitation and abandonment by the father of the child.

The Association is the biggest abortion referral agency in New Zealand. They previously sought a licence for their Hamilton clinic to perform medical abortions. It was their stated objective to turn all their 30 clinics in New Zealand into abortion clinics for the killing of defenceless and helpless unborn children. The Association made a submission to the select committee dealing with the Care of Children Bill. The Association supported girls under the age of 16 having an abortion without the parents knowledge or consent. The Association regularly smuggles girls out of school to have an abortion without the knowledge of parents.

The Association degrades our sexuality by promoting promiscuity and sexual perversions such as masturbation, oral sex and anal sex. The Association shamelessly sells sex toys, vibrators and oral dams. All of this information is freely available on Family Planning’s website. It is time that New Zealand woke up to the damage that the tax payer funded Family Planning is doing to our community.

The philosophy of Family Planning is alien to a culture of life. At the Association’s Conference in May, 1979 the following policy was adopted;

“That the 19 doctors meeting as the Medical Advisory Committee of the NZPA recognise that the provision of abortion services is an important back-up measure in a comprehensive family planning programme.” Authorising abortions as a backup for failed contraception is unlawful.

The government should follow the good example of the United States Congress and State Legislatures who are increasingly aware of the damage inflicted on society by Planned Parenthood, the American equivalent of the NZFPA. There are now nine states that have defunded Planned Parenthood, there are many other states in the process of defunding Planned Parenthood.The latest example is the Texas Senate, which has defunded Texas Planned Parenthood by withdrawing funding of $64 million.

The NZFPA is part of the sex education lobby that is systematically undermining traditional morality and is aggressively promoting an ideology of lustful sexual licence while pretending to be concerned only with the health and safety of young people. As part of their subversive agenda, the Association has produced “a sexual and reproductive health guide for same sex attracted women” titled “Keeping it Safe” The guide is amoral, and promotes unnatural and degrading sexual practices that denigrate the dignity of women, our young women deserve better.

It is of concern that the guide is funded by the Ministry of Health. It may then be assumed that the Ministry approves of the contents of the guide and endorses the destructive agenda of the NZFPA. The task of the Ministry is to promote the health and wellbeing of the community, how then can the Ministry justify the investment of taxpayer funds to promote a lifestyle that is both immoral and a threat to the health of young women?

The NZFPA and Planned Parenthood are affiliates of the International Planned Parenthood Federation that supports China’s one child family policy with forced abortions and sterilisations which are a violation of human rights. It should come as no surprise as the founder of Planned Parenthood was the infamous Margaret Sanger, who was a racist and a eugenist. She stated that, “Our objective is unlimited sexual gratification without the burden of children.” and “the most merciful thing that a family does to one of its infants is to kill it.”

Right to Life earnestly requests that in the interest of the health and the wellbeing of the community, the government cease funding the NZFPA which promotes a culture of death.

It is Not Permissible for Anyone to Remain Idle

Labouring in the VineyardAs the new year begins I have been reflecting on the Apostolic Exhortation of Blessed John Paul II Christifideles Laici, on the vocation and the mission of the lay faithful in the Church and in the world.  This document was promulgated on the Feast of the Holy Family (December 30th), 1988.  Twenty-four years on its words are just as encouraging, calling all of Christ’s followers to labour in the vineyard.

Blessed John Paul II desired that the lay faithful would “…take an active, conscientious and responsible part in the mission of the Church in this great moment in history.”  He then pointed out that “A new state of affairs today both in the Church and in social, economic, political and cultural life, calls with a particular urgency for the action of the lay faithful. If lack of commitment is always unacceptable, the present time renders it even more so. It is not permissible for anyone to remain idle.”  How urgent those words are this day in my ears.

There are three trends which Blessed John Paul II identified:

  • Secularism and the need for religion;
  • The human person: A dignity violated and exalted, and;
  • Conflict and peace.

Of particular interest for this post is the inherent dignity of the human person.

“The dignity of the person is manifested in all its radiance when the person’s origin and destiny are considered: created by God in his image and likeness as well as redeemed by the most precious blood of Christ, the person is called to be a “child in the Son” and a living temple of the Spirit, destined for the eternal life of blessed communion with God. For this reason every violation of the personal dignity of the human being cries out in vengeance to God and is an offence against the Creator of the individual.”

In acknowledging the dignity of the human person, we therefore acknowledge the rights of the human person – the right above all to life.

“The inviolability of the person which is a reflection of the absolute inviolability of God, fínds its primary and fundamental expression in the inviolability of human life. Above all, the common outcry, which is justly made on behalf of human rights-for example, the right to health, to home, to work, to family, to culture- is false and illusory if the right to life, the most basic and fundamental right and the condition for all other personal rights, is not defended with maximum determination.”

May it never be forgotten that the right to life is at the very core of any other rights a person may have in this world.

As secular society becomes more entrenched in the culture of death the mission of the Church becomes even more urgent.

“The Church today lives a fundamental aspect of her mission in lovingly and generously accepting every human being, especially those who are weak and sick.  This is made all the more necessary as a “culture of death” threatens to take control. In fact, “the Church family believes that human life, even if weak and suffering, is always a wonderful gift of God’s goodness. Against the pessimism and selfishness which casts a shadow over the world, the Church stands for life: in each human life she sees the splendour of that ‘Yes’, that ‘Amen’, which is Christ himself (cf. 2 Cor 1:19; Rev 3:14). To the ‘No’ which assails and afflicts the world, she replies with this living ‘Yes’, this defending of the human person and the world from all who plot against life”(138). It is the responsibility of the lay faithful, who more directly through their vocation or their profession are involved in accepting life, to make the Church’s “Yes” to human life concrete and efficacious.”

And how are we, the lay faithful, to accept life, to proclaim it, to live it?

We need to live it in our own families first.  Married couples need to be open to the possibility of new life.  We need to teach our children to know, love and serve God, their creator.  We need to teach our children to love one another.  Prayer being at the heart of our lives.  When we do this, we naturally will be of service to those less fortunate.  We will care for the disabled and the sick.  We will visit the elderly and house-bound.  We will then be able to share this great “Yes” to life in our work place and social circles because we live it ourselves, with God’s Grace.

“God calls me and sends me forth as a labourer in his vineyard. He calls me and sends me forth to work for the coming of his Kingdom in history. This personal vocation and mission defines the dignity and the responsibility of each member of the lay faithful and makes up the focal point of the whole work of formation, whose purpose is the joyous and grateful recognition of this dignity and the faithful and generous living-out of this responsibility.”

Let your labour in the vineyard begin today, in your own family, for this is your calling, your responsibility, and as the great Blessed John Paul II reminds us, “it is not permissible for anyone to remain idle.”
